Why TBT Group?
TBT Group is growing across the UK in smart buildings and IoT master systems integration, with international growth planned within the next 12 months. Our analytics platform is now proving itself on real estates: environmental monitoring in real time, from software we wrote ourselves. The predictions it makes let commercial and domestic customers cut downtime and spend less on running their buildings.
The aim is to make Tyrrell Building Technologies a leader in process automation, in the building sector first and then in other industries. We have two UK offices today and plan to open in the US and the UAE within five years, with our own electronics manufacturing facility in the North West of England within three.
None of that happens without the team. The people here bring the expertise and the energy that get the work delivered properly for customers, every day.
Technical R&D
The development team builds the platforms that every product in the group runs on. Our hardware and software developers are working on projects that change how the BMS and smart building industry operates, and the team’s experience lets us take on problems other suppliers avoid.
We work in agile sprints. The main languages are C, Java, JavaScript, Python and SQL, and most of what we ship runs on Linux.
Engineering
The engineering team designs, builds and maintains the building management systems behind our products and services. Our BMS and controls engineers work on everything from software applications to the systems and infrastructure that run large estates. The job is mostly problem-solving, with other people.
Sales
The sales team is where growth comes from. The work is building relationships with clients, understanding what is actually wrong in their buildings and matching it with the right system. Sales works closely with marketing, product and customer service so that the client gets a solution that fits rather than a product off the shelf. If you can communicate, negotiate and want to see the result of a deal in a real building, this is the team.
Marketing
A mix of marketers, SEO specialists, web developers and writers, working from what customers need and what the business is trying to do. Every campaign has to be honest about the product. The team is small, so people get to own things.
People
The people team looks after the safety and wellbeing of everyone who works for TBT, whatever else is in the pipeline.
The approach is simple: interesting work, clear development, and an environment where the values set the tone. Much of the team’s work happens behind the scenes, building the programmes that support the people who build the products.
